At front desk you can request a curtesy beach towel that canned be loaned at no extra cost.

Hillside Plantation is filled with history including the historical Slave Wall that connects the Dutch side and French sides of the island.   • Fort Amsterdam

    The remains of the first Dutch military base in the Caribbean offer stunning views across the ocean and over the town of Philipsburg behind it.

    Enjoy stunning views over the historic center of Philipsburg and the warm waters of the Caribbean when standing on top of Fort Amsterdam. This site is not only famous for its historical ruins, but also for its pelicans, which come here annually to breed.

    The first Dutch military base in the Caribbean dates back to 1631. The fort changed hands between the Dutch, British and French many times, before being decommissioned during the late 19th century. 

    Climb the hill that overlooks Philipsburg to reach the fort. From the center of town, a trail will take you along the coast, offering stunning ocean views. Cycle tours are also available from within the town and follow a paved path to the fort. 

  • Sint Maarten Museum

    The St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation is a non- profit organization that aims to protect and promote the island’s rich heritage.  It was established on October 4 1993 as the result of a merger between the St. Maarten National Park Foundation and the St Maarten Museum Foundation. The museum includes a gift shop where you can find authentic Caribbean items. Most of the products available are made by local artists. They also sell books, maps and other small publications about the islands heritage. All profits from the shop are used to support museum and heritage projects.

  • Plane Spotting at Maho

    Maho Beach, Sint Maarten .

    Enjoy the activity of plane spotting from the Beach or at the close by restaurants. The Princess Juliana International Airport provides a unique experience as the runway is on the beach where you get a close view of aircrafts landing and lifting off. The proximity is legendary and it appears on many top 10 lists of plane spotting around the world. Look up the flight arrival and schedule to ensure you get in the large departing air crafts. Note to use caution and get too close to the airport fence to avoid the danger. Grab you beer or Pina Colada and enjoy the experience.

Our team at Alicia's Inn took the tour and I can tell you it was a great experience. Like Alicia's Inn they are a family owned business. Topper's is environmentally conscientious and known for their signature reusable swing-top bottles. NOTE!   • Parotte Ville Bird Sanctuary

    Bishop Hill Road, Sint Maarten .

    Parotte Ville Bird Sanctuary is a walk-in bird par. It's home to a number of exotic birds which include sun conures, ring-neck parakeet, black headed caiques and more.     The Pinel Island can be accessed by a ferry of $12/€10 per person. It wonderful place of total relaxation. Ensure to work with cash. The ferry usually 9:30 am every 30 minutes till 4 pm. Check ferry times in advance. The ferry ride will take between 5-10 minutes.
